Document Expressing Our Overall Approach to CSR
■CSR Policy
The Musashi Paint Group began in 1958 as Musashi Paint, a manufacturer and seller of lacquer paints.
Since then, with the support of our customers and other stakeholders, we have grown into a global company with production bases in nine countries as a holding company.
To realize our management philosophy—“The Musashi Paint Group uses its unique ideas to develop and offer products that contribute to society. It secures the profit of paint customers, raw material partners, stockholders, and its employees. It is a group in which each employee can work with pride in emotional and material abundance.”—we will continue to move forward together with our stakeholders toward the development of a sustainable society. By continuing to respond to the demands of society, we will engage in CSR activities in order to deepen the trust of our stakeholders and enhance our corporate value.

[Environmental Philosophy]
We recognize that Musashi Paint’s business activities are broadly and closely connected to the global environment, and with each individual’s respect for nature as our starting point, we will continue business activities that are kind to local and global environments and aim to be a company that actively works to protect the global environment.
[Action Guidelines]
1.
Through the production of paints, we will enrich society and create environmentally conscious products.
2.
In order to achieve our environmental policy, we will establish environmental objectives and, through planned activities and periodic reviews, strive for the continuous improvement of our environmental management system and the enhancement of environmental performance.
3.
Through our production activities, we will work to prevent pollution and continuously improve our environmental management system, and to enhance environmental performance, we will address the following items. • Energy conservation: reducing electricity use through day-to-day operational control • Waste reduction: reducing waste paint [by reviewing defective inventory (finished products and semi-finished products) and production processes] • Resource conservation (including recycling): effective use of resources through the reuse of waste (waste solvents) • Reduction and elimination of hazardous chemical substances: developing environmentally friendly products and procuring raw materials that comply with the Musashi Paint Group Green Procurement Standards
4.
We will comply with environmental laws and regulations and other requirements to which we have agreed, and strive to build and develop relationships of trust with interested parties.
5.
We will maintain the environmental policy as documented information, make it known to all persons working for us or on our behalf, and ensure that it is available to interested parties.
■Chemical Substance Management Policy
As a company that manufactures and sells paints, the Musashi Paint Group recognizes that the creation and manufacture of safe and reliable products is an essential mission, also from the perspective of the SDG goal of “Responsible Consumption and Production.” Chemical substance management is one of our important initiatives so that our products can be used safely and with peace of mind by customers and end consumers, and so that our employees can manufacture them safely.

Throughout the lifecycle of our products, we will establish safer chemical substance management for people and the environment involved with chemical substances.
2.
We will comply with chemical substance-related laws and regulations and customer requirements.
3.
We will appropriately communicate information on chemical substances contained in our products to customers.
4.
We will make continuous improvements in order to implement more appropriate chemical substance management. We will also strive to prevent health damage to people involved in the lifecycle of our products and to prevent environmental pollution.
5.
We will provide education and awareness-raising activities to employees in order to deepen understanding of and awareness about chemical substance management. We will also seek understanding and cooperation from our business partners.

■Human Rights Policy
1.
The Musashi Paint Group’s Basic Approach to Human Rights
Based on the management philosophy of “being a group in which each employee can work with pride while achieving spiritual and material well-being,” we respect the human rights of all persons involved in our business.
2. Scope of Application
Our Company
This policy applies to the group’s corporate entities, officers, and employees.
Business Partners
We will request all companies involved in our business, including our business partners, to strive to respect human rights.
3.
Applicable Laws and Regulations
We will comply not only with international standards but also with the human rights laws of all countries involved in our business.
4.
Promotion Structure
The Human Resources and General Affairs Division of Musashi Paint Holdings will take the lead in promoting human rights initiatives.
5.
Human Rights Due Diligence
If it becomes clear that our business activities are causing or contributing to human rights violations, we will work to correct and remedy them. Even where such violations have not been caused or contributed to by our business activities, if our business activities are directly linked to human rights violations through our business relationships, we will work to encourage corrective action.
6. Priority Human Rights Issues Addressed by Our Company
1)
Prohibition of Forced Labor
We respect the free will of our employees and completely eliminate all involuntary labor. We also do not impose unreasonable restrictions in connection with work.
2)
Prohibition of Child Labor and Consideration for Young Workers (18 Years Old and Under)
We do not permit any child labor (children aged 15 or under who have not completed compulsory education). As a general rule, our hiring standard is graduates of higher education aged 18 or older. If we employ persons aged 18 or under for special reasons, we will comply with the law, including by not assigning them to dangerous or hazardous work.
3)
Consideration for Working Hours
We give due consideration to the health and safety of our employees and conduct labor management in compliance with the law.
4)
Appropriate Wages and Allowances
We pay wages and allowances to employees under a wage system that complies with the law. We also do not make unreasonable deductions that would undermine employees’ livelihoods.
5)
Prohibition of Inhumane Treatment
We strictly prohibit all inhumane acts against employees, including harassment, sexual abuse, corporal punishment, mental or physical oppression, and verbal abuse. If any such conduct is identified, we will deal with it strictly in accordance with the work rules.
6)
Prohibition of Discrimination
We prohibit all discriminatory conduct against employees (including on the basis of race, gender, physical appearance, religion, etc.). If any such conduct is identified, we will deal with it strictly in accordance with the work rules.
7)
Sanitary Facilities, Meals, and Housing
In order to protect employees’ health, we provide employees with clean welfare facilities within the company, such as cafeterias, toilets, and changing rooms. We also provide safe and clean dormitories or company housing in light of employees’ circumstances.
8)
Communication
In order to build good communication with employees, we will continuously create opportunities for dialogue and listen to employees’ opinions.
9)
Proper Management of Raw Materials Associated with Human Rights Violations
In order to prevent the use in our products of raw materials, including conflict minerals, that are mined or manufactured through acts that violate human rights in the relevant country or region, we will strive for proper management in coordination with our environmental and quality management systems.
7.
We will periodically review our Human Rights Policy in light of changes in social conditions.
■Occupational Safety and Health Policy
The Musashi Paint Group positions employees as its most important stakeholders and works to ensure their safety and health in its corporate activities.
1.
Together with the activities of the Safety and Health Committee, we will prepare documentation concerning safety and health and use it in awareness-raising activities in order to eradicate occupational accidents and suppress health hazards. We will also review such documentation in a timely manner in light of changes in social demands and our own circumstances, thereby enhancing its effectiveness.
2.
In order to create safe and healthy workplaces, we will set occupational safety and health goals company-wide and in each workplace, regularly manage progress, and pursue improvement.
3.
We will comply with occupational safety and health laws and regulations related to our business activities, matters agreed upon in response to stakeholder requirements, and standards independently established by our company.
4.
We will provide safe and healthy working conditions.

[Quality Philosophy]
Musashi Paint will strive to improve quality throughout the company and will continue its business activities and quality activities in order to increase customer satisfaction through the stable provision of industrial paint quality.
[Activity Guidelines]
1.
We will actively work to provide products that conform to customer requirements and legal requirements, and to continuously improve the effectiveness of the quality management system, thereby striving to improve customer satisfaction and build and develop relationships of trust with interested parties.
2.
We will set quality objectives for production activities and sales activities, review them periodically, and promote improvement activities in a planned manner.
3.
Through improvement activities, all of us will work to ensure the stability of work processes in the production department and prevent process abnormalities and defective products, and in the sales department to ensure conformity with customer requirements and prevent dissatisfaction and defects, thereby establishing systems for the stable provision of quality and the improvement of customer satisfaction.
4.
We will engage in technological development and aim for higher-quality responses to new customer needs.
5.
In order to ensure that the quality policy is fully understood by all employees, we will communicate it by posting it internally and distributing quality policy cards, make it known through workplace education and meetings, and ensure that closely related interested parties can access it.
6.
In order to maintain the appropriateness of the quality policy, we will review it as appropriate, in principle every February and also when issues are identified in management reviews or when organizational changes occur.
Document Expressing Our Approach to Governance
■Compliance Policy
The Musashi Paint Group will not only comply with the laws and regulations of each country related to our business, but will also respect the social norms and customs of each region and comply with internal rules independently established by the company, thereby maintaining good relationships with society and contributing to the sustainable growth of society.
1.
With respect to human rights, occupational safety and health, the environment, quality, chemical substance management, information security, and BCP, we will act in accordance with the separately established policy for each item.
2.
Matters Related to Fair Trade and Ethics
1.
We will act responsibly in dealings with government and public officials of the relevant country, taking into account compliance with local laws and regulations and local customs. Further, where the business partner is a representative of a private company, we will not engage in excessive gifts or entertainment, or extortion. Embezzlement in our business operations is strictly prohibited, and if discovered, will be dealt with severely.
2.
We will not engage in conduct that impedes fair competition or fair transactions, such as cartels or bid-rigging. We will also not make improper representations regarding our products.
3.
In order to enable both external and internal parties to correctly assess our corporate value, we will strive to disclose accurate information and will not make false disclosures.
4.
In order not to infringe the intellectual property of other companies and to protect our own intellectual property, we will work on intellectual property management.
5.
We will not have contact with antisocial forces. If it becomes known during the course of a relationship that the business partner is an antisocial force, we will terminate that relationship.
6.
We will not engage in defamation, slander, or infringement of the rights of others.
7.
We will protect whistleblowers who make internal reports or disclosures and will not permit any retaliatory acts whatsoever. We will also protect the confidentiality of the report details and the whistleblower.
8.
We will comply with the laws and regulations of each country relating to the export of products and the purchase of raw materials.
■Information Security Policy
The Musashi Paint Group recognizes the importance of its social responsibility for information management in order to prevent personal and financial damage caused by the outflow or leakage of important information such as customer information, employees’ personal information, and the company’s confidential information, and to avoid undermining society’s trust, and accordingly has established an Information Security Policy and will engage in appropriate information management in its day-to-day operations.

In order to prevent important information in our business activities from leakage of information, we will take effective measures to manage it appropriately and strive to maintain and improve information security.
2.
We will comply with laws, regulations, and other requirements concerning information management.
3.
In order to heighten and maintain awareness of the importance of information security, we will provide directors and employees with education and training on appropriate information management.
4.
If any outflow or leakage relating to information security should occur and we determine that its effects extend to customers or other stakeholders, we will promptly report it to the relevant parties and take the necessary measures.
