Sho Maei, Sales Department

“Explanatory skills” toward others and “having your own ideas” are important!

Musashi Paint Holdings Co., Ltd. is seeking colleagues to join us.

What kind of work do you do at Musashi Paint?

I mainly propose paints and provide problem-solving support to end clients (automobile and home appliance manufacturers), T1 coating manufacturers, and trading companies. After making proposals, when actual paint trials are performed on products, I coordinate with the technology department to provide follow-up, including mass production. Since I am involved in the process from product conception to distribution in the market, this work is highly rewarding.

When did you feel growth after joining the company?

Since I joined without any knowledge of paints, I was initially surprised at how many requirements were expected for paints.

To hear customer requirements, share the information with the development technology team, and make proposals, one might think deep paint knowledge is essential, but I believe that as a salesperson, the most important skills are explanatory skills toward others and having your own ideas.

It is not enough to simply explain. You must think about what the other party truly wants, what is behind their requirements, and focus on the ultimate goal rather than short-term concerns. Doing so not only improves work efficiency but also wins the trust of customers. Because my previous job was unrelated to manufacturing, I feel that developing this way of thinking and applying it at Musashi Paint is a major growth experience.

When do you feel the joy of working at Musashi Paint?

Since my previous work was unrelated to manufacturing, I feel that developing the above mindset and applying it at Musashi Paint has been a great growth experience.

Also, in emergency situations such as trouble occurrence, there is a culture where everyone is concerned and willing to help, which allows us to challenge tasks without fear of failure. This is one of the good aspects of working at Musashi Paint.

When necessary, technology department members accompany me to customer meetings to explain proposals together. Even during proposals or trouble responses, we work as a team rather than individually, which makes it enjoyable to consider matters from various perspectives. Furthermore, the moment a project I was involved in is released as a product or reaches the market brings great reward and a sense of accomplishment. The first project I was involved in is especially memorable and remains vivid in my mind (a certain PC project).

Why did you choose Musashi Paint?

My interest in cars led me to my previous job, where I worked in logistics, covering the upstream to downstream of automobile manufacturing. During that time, I wanted to engage more directly in manufacturing. As I explored opportunities, I was attracted to automotive interior decoration and wanted to be involved, which led me to join Musashi Paint. In addition, the friendly and appealing atmosphere of the interviewers when I was interviewed was also one of the reasons I decided to join.
