A Day in the Life of Mayuko Miyamoto, Finance & Accounting Department

“It’s easier to stick with what’s familiar, but there’s so much joy in learning new things!”

Musashi Paint Holdings Co., Ltd. is looking for talented individuals to join our team.

Finance & Accounting Department – Mayuko Miyamoto

Self-Introduction

Hello, my name is Mayuko Miyamoto. I joined Musashi Paint in 2015, and including my time as a temporary staff member, I am now in my 12th year with the company. On weekdays, I reset my mind and body by swimming for an hour after work. On weekends, I enjoy dining out, visiting saunas, and ending the day with a beer. When I have a long weekend, I like visiting shrines, and lately, I’ve been exploring bars where I can enjoy a drink alone.

What kind of work do you do at Musashi Paint?

Our small but versatile team handles a wide range of tasks, from processing employee expense reimbursements to preparing reports and financial statements for executives to support strategic decision-making.

While accounting is often imagined as a paper-heavy, data-entry job, our department has embraced IT systems, and with many female employees, the atmosphere is friendly and collaborative. Snacks during break times are always a must!

Why did you choose Musashi Paint?

I wanted the opportunity to learn areas I hadn’t experienced before, such as domestic tax and international accounting. Now that my only son has reached adulthood, I can focus more on my own professional growth, and Musashi Paint offered the perfect environment to do so.

What do you find attractive about Musashi Paint?

The greatest appeal is the joy of manufacturing. Our company relies on the creativity of people who develop new paints and the craftsmanship of those who create colors on-site. Bringing products to market involves multiple departments working together. Even the back-office teams supporting these processes are filled with talented, unique individuals, which makes working here stimulating and rewarding.

When do you feel the most fulfilled in your work?

Nothing compares to the satisfaction of closing the annual accounts. When the numbers finally align perfectly, it’s a small but victorious moment.

Even after long days of interaction with tax advisors and handling large volumes of work, seeing all my colleagues smiling at the end of the day makes me feel truly grateful.

What do you look for in your work?

A work environment that allows me to focus and the overall ease of working efficiently.

What kind of colleagues do you want to work with?

People who share similar values. Colleagues who communicate with empathy make it easier to maintain a kind and supportive atmosphere.

Message to Readers

Sticking to familiar routines is easy, but exploring new things brings the joy of learning. I hope to share these new challenges with many people and experience them together.

Comments from Colleagues

What kind of person is Ms. Miyamoto?

  • She arrives at the office earlier than anyone else every morning, ventilates the floor, and cleans every corner without ever making a fuss about it. Her actions create a comfortable environment for everyone to work in, and she does it so naturally that it is both admirable and inspiring.
  • She is like an older sister to our team. Even when I feel stressed, talking with her is calming. She taught me the ins and outs of our work when I was new and has become a trusted mentor and friend. Her attention to detail, hospitality, and gentle approach make it easy to communicate about both work and personal topics. Professionally, she is precise, flexible, and has an excellent sense of balance—someone we always rely on.

What do we expect from Ms. Miyamoto?

  • Ms. Miyamoto is always putting work first, often at the expense of herself. While we are grateful for this dedication, we hope she occasionally prioritizes herself. During peak times like year-end closing, she becomes a force of nature—both impressive and a little intimidating! She combines specialist expertise with generalist coordination skills, making her an invaluable asset to the company.
