Emi Miyoshi, Finance Department Manager

Tradition and innovation coexist here, making the environment refreshing and exciting!

Musashi Paint Holdings Co., Ltd. is seeking colleagues to join us.

Self-introduction

My name is Emi Miyoshi. I joined the Finance Department in December 2023, so I have been with the company for about a year and a half.

I am a mother of two boys, one in middle school and one in elementary school. I enjoy attending live concerts, theater performances, and watching movies in cinemas. Although online streaming is convenient, I still prefer going out in person and experiencing the atmosphere firsthand.

What kind of work do you do at Musashi Paint?

In the Finance Department, I am mainly responsible for preparing and organizing documents related to fund management, liaising with our bank contacts, creating monthly financial reporting materials, and other administrative tasks. As a holding company, we also have frequent interactions with overseas offices. Therefore, I always need to be aware of foreign exchange rates and currencies other than the U.S. dollar, which has provided many new learning opportunities that differ from my previous experience.

Why did you choose Musashi Paint?

Until now, I have been broadly involved in back-office work, primarily accounting, but also general affairs, labor management, and human resources.

Having a wide range of experience was valuable, but as my responsibilities expanded, I often felt like “a jack-of-all-trades.” I became increasingly concerned that I might not be able to build the career I truly want. At my age, I felt this was my last chance to challenge myself in a new environment, so I began looking for a new opportunity.

During this search, I applied for the Finance Department at Musashi Paint Holdings and was given the opportunity for an interview. One particularly memorable moment was a question from CEO Fukui during the final interview: “What situation makes you happiest?” I was surprised by such a personal question that was not directly related to my skills. When I answered, “When work and my children’s lives are both running smoothly, like two wheels of a car,” the CEO deeply empathized with my answer. At that moment, I felt that this company would allow me to balance work and personal life while making a long-term contribution, and I decided to join.

What do you find appealing about Musashi Paint?

Many of the colleagues interviewed before me cited the company’s friendly people as one of its attractions, and I completely agree.

Everyone here is unique and approachable. In addition, I greatly admire the company’s strong commitment to contributing to the local community.

Last year, I participated in World Cleanup Day, cleaning up the area around the company. It was fun and left me feeling refreshed. Even as a first-time participant, our efforts across all locations were recognized and awarded. The fact that the whole company worked together in this way was truly impressive. From a more visible perspective, the main office building is colorful and visually enjoyable, and the freedom to dress casually creates a relaxed office atmosphere.

When do you feel a sense of fulfillment in your work?

I consider finance to be the cornerstone of managing a company’s money.

For example, when I prepare monthly financial reports and report the company’s financial status, I feel proud knowing that I am contributing to the sound management of the company. At the same time, finance is a highly specialized field, so I need to continuously deepen my knowledge and skills through my daily work. While I feel a strong sense of fulfillment, it also keeps me disciplined, and I continue to study and learn every day.

What do you seek in your work?

As I mentioned when talking about why I chose the company, I want to value both work and my personal life. While I am committed to building a meaningful career, I do not want to neglect raising my children.

I aim to balance these two aspects, updating myself daily as a professional and growing with intention, so that I can live without regrets as a working adult. Ultimately, I hope to reach retirement feeling satisfied, knowing that I gave my best.

What kind of colleagues do you want to work with?

Finance and accounting work may seem rigid, but we often collaborate with other departments, so flexibility is also required.

Of course, accuracy and responsibility are the most important, as we handle company funds.

Therefore, I hope to work with colleagues who approach their tasks with integrity, do not fear change, and maintain a considerate and approachable attitude toward others.

Message to readers

Musashi Paint is a company with a long history of over 60 years. Honestly, when I first applied, I had some concerns that the company might have a somewhat traditional culture.

However, after going through the interview process and joining, I was impressed by how proactive and forward-looking the company is, led by CEO Fukui.

The coexistence of tradition and innovation is refreshing and exciting. This is a company that fully supports motivated employees.

The colleagues I work alongside are all kind and gentle, creating a supportive and comfortable environment. If you want to work in a place where you can be yourself and enjoy your work, I encourage you to apply.
